I have had a chance to go zip-lining in Machakos People’s Park and to Kisames Giraffe Park and every time I have visited those venues people always mentioned this place in Aberdare Ranges which has a very long zip-line. The curiosity was too much to handle so I had to visit the place. It is located at the southern side of Aberdare ranges in Kiambu County.
You get to the place through Nairobi-Nakuru highway to a small town near Kijabe where carbacid is extracted naturally from the ground. You then head to a very gorgeous hotel called The Forest.
The thrilling bit of this adventure is that you go zip-lining for 3km, yes a whole 3km mind you aberdares has a volatile micro-climate which caught us on the unlucky side because it rained heavily and the mist made visibility poor. At the end of the day, it was all worth it.
The place is always packed on the weekends. I would recommend you to visit on weekdays but its not really a big deal which day you choose to go.
Ziplining costs 2500/=
